Brad Cox Releases New album ‘My Mind’s Projection’

Today, four time Golden Guitar nominee Brad Cox releases his sophomore album MY MIND’S PROJECTION via Sony Music Entertainment Australia.

Brad Cox’s sophomore album MY MIND’S PROJECTION may well be the most anticipated country album of 2020. The follow up to Cox’s acclaimed 2018 self-titled debut, the album was recorded once again with producer Matt Fell, and has already spawned the hits ‘Short Lived Love’, the #1 country radio singles ‘Give Me Tonight’ and ‘Drinking Season’ and his collaboration with Adam Eckersley ‘Remedy’.
To date, ‘Drinking Season’, written by Brad and Dan Isbell (Luke Combs), has amassed 1 million global streams, whilst rock tinged ‘Give Me Tonight’ has over 4 million global streams. The album follows on from his celebrated 2018 debut self-titled album which and Rusty Strings’ single, which was nominated for Apra Amcos Song Of The Year and Apple Music Single Of The Year.MY MIND’S PROJECTION is a snapshot of songs that I’ve written, things that I’ve done and things that I’ve experienced in the last three years,” explains Cox of the album. “It’s what I’ve ‘felt and seen and done and heard and then felt again’ all rolled into one.”

Brad Cox first came to prominence in 2018 with his self-titled debut album that yielded the singles ‘Red Light’‘Too Drunk to Drive’ and ‘Lake House’, as well as the crowd favourite ‘Water On The Ground’. The album earned the Jindabyne native two Golden Guitar nominations for Contemporary Album of the Year and New Talent of the Year.

“I finished writing the first record in 2017. MY MIND’S PROJECTION covers the time I spent between finishing writing that record and writing this one. There’s a bunch of songs that are two-years old, and a couple of songs that I wrote in November. I’m a huge fan of Sturgill Simpson’s A SAILOR’S GUIDE TO EARTH. Like that album, I wanted to make a record that I know my fans will love. But, I think this album will open doors to a lot more people, other than fans that only like country music.”

Working again with Matt Fell (Sara Storer, Shane Nicholson, Travis Collins) was a smart move for Cox. Together the pair have recaptured the magic of their first outing, but have taken the stylings further, infusing the record with dollops of country rock and rhythm and blues. “It’s really great being able to work with Matt again,” continues Brad. “I was so uncomfortable the first time (laughs), because I didn’t know what I was doing. But we got to be mates. For this second record, we were friends, I knew how he worked. I was much more comfortable going “Matt, what about this,” throwing ideas around or “I don’t like that”. It was a totally different experience.”

When COVID19 hit, Brad Cox found solitude driving a tractor for up to seventeen hours a day. The solitude is part of his well-worn writing practise – he dreams up an idea, ruminates on it and then the magic happens. And that’s what has happened with the recording of MY MIND’S PROJECTION

Welcome to the next chapter in the career of arguably the most exciting artist in Australian country music today, Brad Cox.

The Riff Raff – Rock News | 27 Nov

Vol 2 | The Riff Raff | 27 Nov 2020

This week I bring to you the #WhereAustraliaRocks edition of The Riff Raff and Weekly Podcast.
On the back of the year that the music industry has had in 2020, I have to say it’s bloody awesome to see so much killer new local music coming through in recent weeks with the majority of what is featured this week, having been released in November.

I’m always a super optimistic and positive kind of guy and I’ve got a good feeling that 2021 is going to be a great one for the local rock scene here in Australia. Borders are starting to open up and we’ve got representation this week from most States!

This week is one for those of you that love your music LOUD, with a healthy dose of punky attitude and massive riffs.

It was awesome to have a chat with Sean Dennis from Elephant Gun, who have just released their first new music in 20 years. That album is titled Now To Survive and be sure to check out our chat by clicking right here….

The feature artist on the Weekly Podcast is Molly & The Krells who hail from Sydney. They’ve just released their new single Expectations and I’ll feature a snippet of my recent chat with their frontman Blake Cateris.

SIlverback Touring have just announced the launch of The Silverback Agency, with a roster of killer local and New Zealand artists and I’ll feature a few tracks from some of those, including the latest from Bad Moon Born.

New tracks from The Kids, The Wolston Butchers, Avalanche and Wolf Creek are featured….and to set the scene, The Living End Roll On album was released on this day 20 years ago and I thought Carry Me Home was the perfect song to kick things into gear for this week’s Podcast!!!

Don’t stop believin’,

Molly And The Krells

If you dig pop-punk of the hook-tastic variety from the likes of Bowling For Soup, Jimmy Eay World, Weezer and Green Day, then Sydney based Molly And The Krells could very well be the best thing you’ve never heard!

They’ve just released their latest single Expectations, which follows on from What Went Wrong, released earlier in 2020. One of my absolute finds of 2020!!

Elephant Gun
Kill Street Blues

In the early NOUGHTS the Aussie Alt Rock scene was at it’s peak dominating Triple J airwaves, filling festival lineups and Elephant Gun were right in the thick of things. Signed to Roadrunner Records, touring with The Screaming Jets, Shihad, Grinspoon, Sunk Loto, Powderfinger, Magic Dirt and hitting the main stage of the 1998/99 Falls Festival and even the Big Day Out.

Fast forward now to 2020 and their new album Now To Survive is out via Dinner For Wolves. Here’s a taste of that album with the massive riffs and rock n roll energy of Kill Street Blues.

Wolf Creek

Sydney-based alternative-metal quartet Wolf Creek have just revealed their ferocious new single ‘Viral’ – produced by Stevie Knight (Stand AtlanticYours TrulyRedHook) and mixed by Dave Petrovic (NorthlaneTonight Alive).

Opening with crisp distortion, feverish drums and the bristling lead vocals of Chase Bosward, ‘Viral’ is a deftly produced exemplar of alternative-metal. Taking cues from luminaires DeftonesArchitects and Bring Me The Horizon, ‘Viral’ sets a manic pace before introducing its rattling, yet wholly satisfying bridge.

Stranger Baby

Jeffy and The Bobcats create an endearing and soulful brand of music. Influenced by the sounds of Funk, Rock, Soul, R & B and Indie, they synthesize jams that make you sad dance into serenity. They effortlessly conjure a sonic that is both vintage and modern.

Jeffy and The Bobcats is the product of collaboration between singer/songwriter Elliott Okerstrom, musician/producer Voya and indefinable enigma Jeffy Bobcat.

Wolf Creek – Viral
Wolf Creek are a Sydney based metal band who have just unleashed their latest Viral.

They’ve also released a video clip for the track, featuring singer, songwriter and former Home & Away actor, Mark Furze.
If you are in Sydney, the guys are playing a launch show at Frankies Pizza on Sunday 29th November.

Granted, whether the international tours happen is in the lap of the gods…

But we will try and keep a steady supply of local gigs promoted here as they start slowly re-emerging and I track them all down!!

Suzi Quatro Releases A New Christmas Single ‘My Heart And Soul (I Need You Home For Christmas)

Suzi Quatro is set to release a new Christmas Single with “My Heart And Soul (I Need You Home For Christmas)” available on all digital platforms on December 4th, 2020.

Even in the highly adrenaline-fueled music business, it’s rare to find a bundle of energy and talent on a par with Suzi Quatro. The American rock vocalist and musician has been successful for over 56 years and continues to tour the world.

She released her critically acclaimed current album No Control in 2019. With hits like Can The Can, 48 Crash, Devil Gate Drive, If You Can’t Give Me Love or She’s In Love With You, she became an icon in the seventies, and remains so to this day.

But this year everything is different!

Suzi Quatro: “So, lockdown had just begun. My son was in the studio working on ideas every day for our next album, a perfect opportunity as neither of us was ‘on the road’. I was sitting on the patio, relaxing, and heard this absolutely beautiful track coming out of the open studio door. It was a bass line, with a sparse guitar chord, and drums. It was immediate for me. I ran into the studio (mask on of course), and told my son to set up a microphone, and without thinking, without writing anything down, I sang the first 4 lines of the song exactly as they ended up. That`s when you know you have a great song … and we do. Merry Xmas everyone!“

“My Heart And Soul (I Need You Home For Christmas)” is available on all digital platforms on December 4th, 2020.
