Chris Stapleton Releases New Album ‘Starting Over’

Published

on

Starting Over, the highly anticipated new studio album from Chris Stapleton is out now. Listen here.

‘Starting Over’ is Chris’s fourth studio album and first since 2017.

‘Starting Over’ is an album of startling prescience—completed in late February only days before the shutdown began. Across its fourteen tracks are songs that examine life’s simplest joys and most serious struggles. Alongside eleven songs written by Stapleton with both longtime friends and new collaborators are three carefully chosen covers: John Fogerty’s ‘Joy Of My Life’ and Guy Clark’s ‘Worry B Gone’ and ‘Old Friends’. The resulting album—both timely and timeless—speaks to and transcends the current moment in ways unimaginable even while it was being created.

Already receiving widespread acclaim, Billboard calls new song ‘Cold’, “earth-shattering…this is the finest rip-your-heart-out song you’ll hear all day…or any day,” while Rolling Stone selected the title track as a “Song You Need to Know” praising,“‘Starting Over’ is for a new day and, like its title implies, a fresh start…a song that, despite being written before the world went to hell in the spring, encapsulates our current moment.” Watch the song’s official music video, which was directed and filmed by Becky Fluke, HERE.

The album finds Stapleton back in his second home, Nashville’s historic RCA Studio A (with additional work done at Muscle Shoals Sound and Compass Sound Studio), surrounded by his trusted collaborators as well as some new faces. Produced by Dave Cobb (who also plays acoustic guitar), the record features his beloved wife, Morgane Stapleton (vocals, tambourine), with J.T. Cure (bass) and Derek Mixon (drums). Special guests include legendary musicians Mike Campbell (electric guitar), Benmont Tench (Hammond B3 organ) and Paul Franklin (pedal steel) as well as the All Voices Choir who are featured on ‘Watch You Burn’, written by Stapleton and Campbell.

Vol 2 | The Riff Raff | 27 Nov 2020

This week I bring to you the #WhereAustraliaRocks edition of The Riff Raff and Weekly Podcast.
On the back of the year that the music industry has had in 2020, I have to say it’s bloody awesome to see so much killer new local music coming through in recent weeks with the majority of what is featured this week, having been released in November.

I’m always a super optimistic and positive kind of guy and I’ve got a good feeling that 2021 is going to be a great one for the local rock scene here in Australia. Borders are starting to open up and we’ve got representation this week from most States!

This week is one for those of you that love your music LOUD, with a healthy dose of punky attitude and massive riffs.

It was awesome to have a chat with Sean Dennis from Elephant Gun, who have just released their first new music in 20 years. That album is titled Now To Survive and be sure to check out our chat by clicking right here….

The feature artist on the Weekly Podcast is Molly & The Krells who hail from Sydney. They’ve just released their new single Expectations and I’ll feature a snippet of my recent chat with their frontman Blake Cateris.

SIlverback Touring have just announced the launch of The Silverback Agency, with a roster of killer local and New Zealand artists and I’ll feature a few tracks from some of those, including the latest from Bad Moon Born.

New tracks from The Kids, The Wolston Butchers, Avalanche and Wolf Creek are featured….and to set the scene, The Living End Roll On album was released on this day 20 years ago and I thought Carry Me Home was the perfect song to kick things into gear for this week’s Podcast!!!

Don’t stop believin’,
Scott

Elephant Gun
Kill Street Blues

In the early NOUGHTS the Aussie Alt Rock scene was at it’s peak dominating Triple J airwaves, filling festival lineups and Elephant Gun were right in the thick of things. Signed to Roadrunner Records, touring with The Screaming Jets, Shihad, Grinspoon, Sunk Loto, Powderfinger, Magic Dirt and hitting the main stage of the 1998/99 Falls Festival and even the Big Day Out.

Fast forward now to 2020 and their new album Now To Survive is out via Dinner For Wolves. Here’s a taste of that album with the massive riffs and rock n roll energy of Kill Street Blues.

Suzi Quatro Releases A New Christmas Single ‘My Heart And Soul (I Need You Home For Christmas)

Published

on

Suzi Quatro is set to release a new Christmas Single with “My Heart And Soul (I Need You Home For Christmas)” available on all digital platforms on December 4th, 2020.

Even in the highly adrenaline-fueled music business, it’s rare to find a bundle of energy and talent on a par with Suzi Quatro. The American rock vocalist and musician has been successful for over 56 years and continues to tour the world.

She released her critically acclaimed current album No Control in 2019. With hits like Can The Can, 48 Crash, Devil Gate Drive, If You Can’t Give Me Love or She’s In Love With You, she became an icon in the seventies, and remains so to this day.

But this year everything is different!

Suzi Quatro: “So, lockdown had just begun. My son was in the studio working on ideas every day for our next album, a perfect opportunity as neither of us was ‘on the road’. I was sitting on the patio, relaxing, and heard this absolutely beautiful track coming out of the open studio door. It was a bass line, with a sparse guitar chord, and drums. It was immediate for me. I ran into the studio (mask on of course), and told my son to set up a microphone, and without thinking, without writing anything down, I sang the first 4 lines of the song exactly as they ended up. That`s when you know you have a great song … and we do. Merry Xmas everyone!“

“My Heart And Soul (I Need You Home For Christmas)” is available on all digital platforms on December 4th, 2020.
