Jane Lee Hooker Release New Single ‘Jericho’

Published

on

Jane Lee Hooker deliver a shot of 100 proof Brooklyn rock ‘n’ roll with their new single “Jericho”.

Jane Lee Hooker exploded out of New York City in 2015, and won acclaim in the US and abroad with their debut album of revved-up blues covers “No B!” The band were immediately snapped up and signed to legendary German blues label Ruf Records. The follow-up album “Spiritus” featured original material and was released in 2017 – once again to rave reviews from around the world.

Jane Lee Hooker toured extensively behind these records, and played to packed houses across the US and Europe, including Germany, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, France, Luxembourg, Denmark, Belgium, the Netherlands, Austria and the Czech Republic.

Jane Lee Hooker return with Jericho – their long awaited new single featuring the band’s signature blend of hard-edged bluesy rock ‘n’ roll. The song is available on digital streaming platforms worldwide via Symphonic Distribution.

Jericho has been featured in the band’s live shows since they toured Europe in 2019, and it quickly became a fan favorite. Singer Dana “Danger” Athens brought the song to the band, with lyrics that are especially relevant with the struggles and challenges that people have recently been facing.

Says Athens, “Jericho is one of those songs that kind of wrote itself, the music and
lyrics just poured out of me. A lot of songs have been written about the Battle of
Jericho, it’s a timeless anecdote for having the strength inside to use our voices to
break down the walls that divide us and change our world for the good.”

Matt Chiaravalle (Joe Bonamassa, Warren Zevon, Courtney Love, Spacehog, Kittie) produced and mixed Jericho, after previously working with the band on both “No B!” and “Spiritus.” A new Jane Lee Hooker EP will follow in mid-2021 – and Jericho gives fans an early taste of what’s to come.

While Jane Lee Hooker’s blend of rock, blues, punk, R&B and soul pays respect to the greats of the past – this band lives fiercely in the present tense. JLH’s fiery live performances, featuring muscular lead guitars, a heavy rhythm section and soulscorching vocals, have made them a must-see live act. In a world full of manufactured bands and live shows backed up by hard-drives, Jane Lee Hooker
play rock ‘n’ roll the way it’s meant to be played – loud and with passion.

Jane Lee Hooker can’t wait to get back out on the road to share new music with their fans around the world. US shows will get underway in 2021 with a European tour to follow – check janeleehooker.com for live show info and tour updates.

What they’re saying about Jane Lee Hooker:

“It’s fiery, just the right level of grubby, and a righteous kick in the shins.”
-Classic Rock Magazine

“…Attitude and swagger by the truckload…(they) rock like a mother.”
– Music Republic Magazine

“(This band) does more than just pay tribute to [John Lee] Hooker. Jane Lee Hooker
takes everything they’ve learned about him and other blues legends and mix in
elements of punk and classic rock to give them a distinct, hard-edged sound.”

SoSo Unveil The Rousing New Single ‘Yeah Nah’

Published

Sydney-based pop-punk quintet SoSo have just revealed their assertive new single ‘Yeah Nah’ – produced by Stevie Knight (Trophy EyesStand AtlanticYours Truly) and mixed by James Paul Wisner (Hands Like HousesUnderoath).

‘Yeah Nah’ finds SoSo at their most forthright, diving headfirst into social commentary surrounding Sydney’s lockout laws and drug enforcement policies, through the use of quintessential Australianisms and gratifying pop-punk. The track frantically races and builds to its climatic, rambunctious bridge that delivers the anthemic line of rebellion “we all know you’re fucking liars”!

Lead singer Rhys de Burgh talks about the inspiration behind ‘Yeah Nah’:

“’Yeah Nah’ originated as a bit of a joke song and ended up a rebellious, energetic earworm. The track is a big call out of the shitty lockout laws that killed so many Sydney music venues, archaic drug enforcement policies and the true enemy of live music – poker machines. Fuck pokies.”

To coincide with the release, the band will support mates RedHook at La La La’s in Wollongong, before performing ‘Yeah Nah’ launch shows at the Rhythm Hut in the Central CoastThe Lansdowne Hotel in Sydney and Diamond Dogs Music Lounge in Dapto. Kingswood Unleash New Single ‘You Make It So Easy` Out NOW!

Published

on

Kingswood just keep rolling! Following on from the release of singles “Say You Remember” and “Bittersweet”, the Melbourne four-piece blister through global pandemics throughout 2020/2021 with their latest single, the high-octane “You Make It So Easy”.

Although COVID has thwarted the touring plans of musicians globally – Kingswood continue to charge, dropping bread crumbs along the way in preparation for that sweet, sweet loaf when the world is finally given that wonderful green light.

A dynamic force on stage, the ARIA nominated group has enjoyed strong success on the road in Australia and abroad, with a tour history that counts tours with AC/DC and Aerosmith, festivals including Splendour in the Grass, Falls Festival and Groovin The Moo; and multiple sold out tours across the country as proud achievements. Kingswood have been invited as special guests for the Baby Animals 30th Anniversiary tour (date’s listed below).

The journey towards the release of “Juveniles” has been one paved creative reinvention. Throughout the album, fans can piece together definitive elements of music that has formed Kingswood’s dynamic musical identity over the course of six years of relentless touring and recording. “You Make It So Easy” shines as an incendiary example of the band’s love for guitar-driven rock music; some may say it aligns itself strongly with the music of “Microscopic Wars”, however looking more broadly at Kingswood’s body of work, the progressions and stylistic arrangement of the band’s latest represents their genre- diverse tapestry of individual music tastes.

Melodically rich and delivered with the punch 2017’s “After Hours, Close To Dawn” became synonymous with, “You Make It So Easy” shines is Kingswood at their unfiltered best. It’s a temperament that Kingswood applied to “Juveniles” as a whole. Embracing creative chaos has led the band to make music that has refused to be pigeonholed over the last handful over years, and it’s the way they like it. “You Make It So Easy” was originally inspired by the new acquaintances, and the exciting tales an and adventures that unfold whilst reminding you of what you’ve always been drawn to.

A truly global record, Kingswood’s new music came to fruition across multiple writing and recording sessions across the US, UK and Europe. Through it all, the dynamic between chief songwriter Alex Laska and front-man Fergus Linacre strengthened and diversified in personal – as well as combined – style and delivery. Working with frequent collaborator and producer Eddie Spear in their second home of Nashville, the record was an emotional one to solidify.

“The album we’re finally presenting was an incredibly long and winding investigation through many different facets and avenues; almost a rediscovery, if you will, of who we are and what we find inspiring.” Alex Laska
