Joel Hoekstra’s 13 Return With New Album ‘Running Games’, Due Out February, 2021

Published

on

Joel Hoekstra, best known to legions of rock fans as the current guitarist for Whitesnake and Trans-Siberian Orchestra (and also known for his work with Night Ranger and the Broadway show Rock of Ages), returns with his sophomore album, “Running Games” from his electrifying solo project, Joel Hoekstra’s 13.

Running Games is due out February 12, 2021.

Hoekstra once again handles the bulk of the creative process, overseeing production, songwriting and arranging (music and lyrics), and crafting his vision for this powerful hard rock record. Add Chris Collier’s masterful mixing and the result is ‘70s/’80s classic hard rock with 2020’s muscle. As with the debut, “Running Games” features an all-star cast of musicians including none other than Russell Allen (vocals), Tony Franklin (bass), Vinny Appice (drums), and Derek Sherinian (keyboards). The amazing Jeff Scott Soto also lends a helping hand with background vocals.

Says Joel, “Years ago, I released three solo albums that were mainly instrumental guitar music. With Joel Hoekstra’s 13, I have started to work on something that showcases my production, writing, and playing in the genre that I’m known for, which is melodic hard rock.  “Running Games” is more focused and more mature compared to [debut] “Dying to Live” and hopefully the fans will enjoy it!”

On ‘Running Games’, lyrically Joel focuses on escaping problems both past and present by providing playful, imaginary, and serious takes on the situations.

Long hailed for his astounding, note-perfect guitar playing, Hoekstra’s playing here raises the bar to a new level.

Ronnie Atkins Announces Details Of New Solo Album ‘One Shot’, Out March 12, 2021

Published

on

Frontiers Music Srl is pleased to announce the signing of Danish vocalist Ronnie Atkins to a solo deal. The acclaimed Pretty Maids and Nordic Union vocalist will release his new solo album, “One Shot,” on March 12, 2021.

“To be honest, I initially had no intention to do a solo album to begin with, but for various reasons and in particularly my own personal health situation I finally decided to have a crack at it,” says Atkins.

“Around Easter 2020 and only some six weeks after I was told that everything seemingly looked very positive for my health, I was unfortunately diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and told it was incurable, which was devastating news for me. Needless to say, that was a total game changer and I went into kind of a panic situation for a while! But when the dust had settled. I realised there were two ways to approach the situation. I could sit down, accept the facts, and feel pity for myself or I could pull myself up, set some goals, pursue my dreams, and carry on living! And with fantastic back up from my family and true friends, I went for the latter!” continues Atkins.

“I wouldn’t have been able to carry out this project without the enthusiasm of Chris Laney (producer), who has been my constant partner in this project from day one. On top of that, I had the pleasure of working with a variety of great musicians/singers such as Pontus Norgren, Kee Marcello, Olliver Hartmann, Pontus Egberg, Linnea Vickström Egg, Björn Strid, and at last, but not at least, my PM relatives Allan Sørensen and Morten Sandager,” continues Atkins.

“Musically and lyrically this album has been a different process for me, considering everything going on. Musically, it could have gone in various directions. It’s always a question of what you want it to be. A good song is a good song, so it’s really a matter of how it is packaged. But I decided to make it appeal to the fans, the supporters who’ve been following me for almost 40 years, so this is basically a melodic rock album with a heavy twist. Lyrically, it also has a different approach. I found it hard to write about sex, drugs, and rock’n’roll, etc. due to the situation I’m wrapped up in, so I guess it turned out a bit more personal and maybe melancholic at times. But it reflects my thoughts at the given time these lyrics were written,” concludes Atkins.

While the creation of “One Shot” is bittersweet for a variety of reasons, it’s nonetheless another thoroughly wonderful melodic hard rock offering from one of the masters of the genre. Look for it in March 2021!

Bonnie Tyler Announces New Studio Album ‘ The Best Is Yet To Come, Out Feb 26

Published

on

Bonnie Tyler has announced the release of her brand-new studio album “The Best Is Yet To Come”, due out on February 26 on earMUSIC

Fans will get a full first taste of the forthcoming album this Friday, December 18, when the first song “When The Lights Go Down” will be available for streaming and download.

For anyone who cannot wait, a beautiful 3-Track-Medley is already up on YouTube right now:

If you think of the decade that represents the craziest hairstyles, the boldest outfits and the most iconic music videos, then you think of the 1980s. This decade created so many different genres and developed wild new styles. In this creative environment Bonnie Tyler made her biggest worldwide breakthrough. Her new album “The Best Is Yet To Come” picks up exactly where her classic songs like “Holding Out For A Hero” and “Total Eclipse Of The Heart” left off.

“The Best Is Yet To Come” presents Bonnie’s “up to date” sound that still evokes the passion, energy and the fun of those glory years. Again, working with long-time producer David Mackay, this new album stands proudly amongst anything she has done in the past. Her last album “Between The Earth and The Stars” reflected her serious star power, boasting contributions from Rod Stewart, Barry Gibb of The Bee Gees, Cliff Richard and Francis Rossi of Status Quo. It charted her highest across Europe in over 30 years.

Now on “The Best Is Yet To Come” she proves that she doesn’t need guests to perfect a stunning album.

Bonnie explains: “I have been anxious to sing for you all for the past 10 long and scary months. I realize some of you have suffered from the virus and loss of family and friends and my heart aches for you. Music can lighten our load and is always my personal retreat. I hope these new songs will lift your spirits. I am so happy and proud of this new album. It simply rocks and brings a smile to my face every time I put it on. The moment we can get back on stage and see your smiling faces will be extra special. I promise the best IS yet to come.”

The title of the album “The Best Is Yet To Come” says that there is no stopping the effervescent Bonnie Tyler. She is back, better than ever and with this energetic, empowering and joyful collection she’s ready to shake off the blues of 2020 and get the party started!

“The Best Is Yet To Come” will be available on CD and digital on February 26 on earMUSIC.

Alice Cooper Releases New Single ‘Our Love Will Change The World’, New Album ‘Detroit Stories’ Out February 26

Published

on

Alice Cooper has released the second single from his upcoming new studio album “Detroit Stories,” which will be released on February 26 via earMUSIC.

Our Love Will Change The World” comes with innocent and hopeful melodies and joyous up-beat tempo and an overall happy atmosphere.

But is that really what the lyrics are telling us about?

Alice himself explains:

“I think “Our Love Will Change The World” is one of the oddest songs I’ve ever done and it was one that came to us by somebody else, another Detroit writer. And it was so strange, because it was happy and what it was saying was anything but happy – it was simply a great juxtaposition. And I got it immediately and said “okay, this is going to be great”. The music saying one thing and the lyrics saying something else, I love that song. It is totally different from anything else on the album.”

Detroit Stories,” Alice’s upcoming new album, is a celebration of the sound and spirit of the Golden Era of Detroit rock.

“Detroit was Heavy Rock central then,” explains Alice, “You’d play the Eastown and it would be Alice Cooper, Ted Nugent, the Stooges and the Who, for $4! The next weekend at the Grande it was MC5, Brownsville Station and Fleetwood Mac, or Savoy Brown or the Small Faces. You couldn’t be a soft-rock band or you’d get your ass kicked.”

“Los Angeles had its sound with The Doors, Love and Buffalo Springfield,” he says, “San Francisco had the Grateful Dead and Jefferson Airplane. New York had The Rascals and The Velvet Underground. But Detroit was the birthplace of angry hard rock. After not fitting in anywhere in the US (musically or image wise) Detroit was the only place that recognized the Alice Cooper guitar driven, hard rock sound and our crazy stage show. Detroit was a haven for the outcasts. And when they found out I was born in East Detroit… we were home.”

50 years later, Alice and Ezrin have united in Detroit with their Detroit friends to record “Detroit Stories,” Cooper’s new album.

If 2019’s “Breadcrumbs” EP laid down the trail to the city, “Detroit Stories” drives like a muscle car right down Woodward Ave.

Discover Detroit Stories as they were meant to be told.
