Melbourne Alt-Rockers Elephant Gun Return With First Album in 20 Years!

Published

on

Melbourne Alt Rockers Elephant Gun have returned from the wilderness to release their first new music in two decades! Their new album, Now To Survive, will be released on November 20 via Dinner For Wolves.

Today the band release the first single from Now To Survive in the shape of Kill Street Blues!

Listen to it HERE

The band comment of the track, ‘It’s a big old dirty rockn’roll song that explodes from the get go and doesn’t let up. We hope you enjoy listening to as much as we enjoy playing it!’

In the early 00’s the Aussie Alt Rock scene was at its peak with the genre dominating the Triple J airwaves and overrunning festival line ups and venues everywhere and Elephant Gun were right in the thick of it.

Forming in 1997 and playing their first ever gig alongside the legendary NoFx, the band’s powerful live show and super catchy tunes quickly drew attention from those in the know. After seeing them play their third ever show (as part of a residence with fellow rock hopefuls, Bugdust), Roadrunner Records signed Elephant Gun to a world wide deal!

The band released their debut, self titled EP the following year in 1998 and more or less stayed on the road until late 2000 touring endlessly across the nation with everyone from The Screaming JetsShihadGrinspoonSunk Loto and many more. Plus, the band performed on the main stage slot of the 1998/99 Falls Festival!

At the turn of the millennium, the band released their first full length album, Albino, which saw the songs Cataract and Prophet Margin added to high rotation on radio stations nationwide and you probably saw them either on The Big Day Out, or bashing it out live on the ABC’s Recovery or on Channel V. They were everywhere. More touring with PowderfingerMagic DirtLo-Tel and even Echo And The Bunnyman kept Elephant Gun busy for the next year or so.

By the mid 00’s they musical terrain had shifted and the alt rock train began to slow down. Elephant Gun left Roadrunner but continued to play up and down the Australian east coast to their loyal fanbase but things more or less ground to a halt and the band went into hibernation…

While the odd gig here and there over the following decade kept the flame burning, it’s only now, in 2020 that the embers have turned into flames and Elephant Gun are ready to unleash their first new music in 20 years!

Now To Survive features all the hallmarks the band were renown for back in the day and is a welcome return to big riffs, bigger drums, soaring vocals and that pure rock n roll energy that used to bleed from venue walls everywhere.

The first single from Now To SurviveKill Street Blues will be released to hungry ears in early November with a killer video soon after.

Now To Survive will be released on November 20 via Dinner For Wolves and will be available for pre order from November 2.

Vol 2 | The Riff Raff | 27 Nov 2020

This week I bring to you the #WhereAustraliaRocks edition of The Riff Raff and Weekly Podcast.
On the back of the year that the music industry has had in 2020, I have to say it’s bloody awesome to see so much killer new local music coming through in recent weeks with the majority of what is featured this week, having been released in November.

I’m always a super optimistic and positive kind of guy and I’ve got a good feeling that 2021 is going to be a great one for the local rock scene here in Australia. Borders are starting to open up and we’ve got representation this week from most States!

This week is one for those of you that love your music LOUD, with a healthy dose of punky attitude and massive riffs.

It was awesome to have a chat with Sean Dennis from Elephant Gun, who have just released their first new music in 20 years. That album is titled Now To Survive and be sure to check out our chat by clicking right here….

The feature artist on the Weekly Podcast is Molly & The Krells who hail from Sydney. They’ve just released their new single Expectations and I’ll feature a snippet of my recent chat with their frontman Blake Cateris.

SIlverback Touring have just announced the launch of The Silverback Agency, with a roster of killer local and New Zealand artists and I’ll feature a few tracks from some of those, including the latest from Bad Moon Born.

New tracks from The Kids, The Wolston Butchers, Avalanche and Wolf Creek are featured….and to set the scene, The Living End Roll On album was released on this day 20 years ago and I thought Carry Me Home was the perfect song to kick things into gear for this week’s Podcast!!!

Don’t stop believin’,
Scott

Suzi Quatro Releases A New Christmas Single ‘My Heart And Soul (I Need You Home For Christmas)

Published

on

Suzi Quatro is set to release a new Christmas Single with “My Heart And Soul (I Need You Home For Christmas)” available on all digital platforms on December 4th, 2020.

Even in the highly adrenaline-fueled music business, it’s rare to find a bundle of energy and talent on a par with Suzi Quatro. The American rock vocalist and musician has been successful for over 56 years and continues to tour the world.

She released her critically acclaimed current album No Control in 2019. With hits like Can The Can, 48 Crash, Devil Gate Drive, If You Can’t Give Me Love or She’s In Love With You, she became an icon in the seventies, and remains so to this day.

But this year everything is different!

Suzi Quatro: “So, lockdown had just begun. My son was in the studio working on ideas every day for our next album, a perfect opportunity as neither of us was ‘on the road’. I was sitting on the patio, relaxing, and heard this absolutely beautiful track coming out of the open studio door. It was a bass line, with a sparse guitar chord, and drums. It was immediate for me. I ran into the studio (mask on of course), and told my son to set up a microphone, and without thinking, without writing anything down, I sang the first 4 lines of the song exactly as they ended up. That`s when you know you have a great song … and we do. Merry Xmas everyone!“

“My Heart And Soul (I Need You Home For Christmas)” is available on all digital platforms on December 4th, 2020.
