Continuing the momentum of their massively successful year, country rockers The Wolfe Brothers have announced more dates on their No Sad Song tour, continuing the national run through well into 2020. After kicking off 2019 in the most extraordinary ‘dreams do come true’ way with a sweeping win at the Golden Guitars, the Tassie boys have not stopped – touring the width and breadth of Australia with mate Lee Kernaghan on his Backroad Nation tour, heading overseas to join Canadian superstar Gord Bamford on a whirlwind run of dates, including the acclaimed Calgary Stampede rodeo, and consistently playing to packed houses with their own headline shows.
Taking home Golden Guitars for Group Of The Year, Song Of The Year for the single Ain’t Seen It Yet, and Contemporary Album Of The Year for Country Heart, and the coveted Album Of The Year accolade was a huge nod from everyone in the industry that The Wolfe Brothers’ hard work has paid off. After 13 previous nominations in the Australian Country Music Awards over the last five years, it was a powerful moment for the band to take home the award on their sixth visit to Tamworth.
The Wolfe Brothers are no overnight success story – their story is one that shows that hard work and determination can make even the biggest dreams a reality. For years they were weekend warriors playing the pubs and party scene around Tasmania, earning their stripes, with no real prospect of being noticed on the mainland. Then they went on Australia’s Got Talent and won the hearts of the nation, securing second place in the series final. They were the first band to ever make the finals and the first act to ever get there playing original material. The mainland was sitting up and taking notice and The Wolfe Brothers were soon auditioning to tour with Lee Kernaghan. Lee hired them after playing the second song at that audition and The Wolfe Brothers have since played every show Lee has done over the last seven years – and they continue to do so – opening his shows and playing as part of his band. Fast forward and The Wolfe Brothers are now selling out their own headline shows.
The Wolfe Brothers’ latest release is Country Heart, which features the No Sad Song single. Country Heart earned the group an ARIA nomination for Best Country Album in 2018 and debuted on the ARIA Charts at #9. The first single Ain’t Seen It Yet was also nominated as a finalist in the APRA Awards for Country Song Of The Year in 2019. All four of The Wolfe Brothers albums have entered the ARIA chart in the Top 20 all genre ARIA chart. The last two albums, Nothin’ But Trouble and This Crazy Life, and this new release Country Heart, have all debuted on the ARIA Country Chart at #2.
Tickets for The Wolfe Brothers No Sad Song Australian Tour 2019 are on sale now. The Wolfe Brothers fourth studio album, Country Heart, is out now through ABC / Universal Music.
Glenn Hughes & Doug Aldrich discuss The Dead Daisies New Album ‘Holy Ground’, Out Now!
There’s no better way to start off a new year than with a massive ROCK album and here in 2021, The Dead Daisies have delivered what will undoubtedly be one of my albums of the year.
The bands 5th album, Holy Ground is the first with the Voice Of Rock and bassist Glenn Hughes and is OUT NOW!.
Lead singles such as Bustle & Flow, Holy Ground and Unspoken released throughout 2020 created high anticipation and the rest of the album delivers some of the bands heaviest and most epic songs to date, but with the space that is synonymous with Glenn Hughes.
It was a true pleasure to chat yesterday with Glenn and guitarist Doug Aldrich. Two musicians I’ve personally been following for over 30 years and needless to say I’m loving seeing them now together in The Dead Daisies.
Our chat dives deep into the new album Holy Ground so settle in and hear for yourself how the album all came together, the interview features a bunch of tracks from the album and we end our chat discussing some of their favourite Aussie music artists, with the #1 choice possibly being a surprise to many!
You can order a copy of Holy Ground on Vinyl or CD from the Rock Lives Here Store
Or for more on The Dead Daisies right here: https://thedeaddaisies.com/holyground/
HOLY GROUND is eleven tracks of pure unadulterated rock and is already receiving rave reviews. The Rockpit was the first to release this with a brilliant 9/10: “An even more muscular and heavy beast and some of the riffs etched in these grooves are crushing. It’s a crunching introduction and huge sounding opener beautifully balanced with the heaviness tempered by a little funk and soul that ominously suggest that this might be one of the best yet!”
Glenn has this to say: “From the opening track HOLY GROUND, we were building a strong foundation. Each song has its own theme, full of drama, emotion and groove, all the way through to ‘Far Away’ the autobiographical last song. We gave it our all, focused and passionate. Take this ride with us, maybe you’ll find yourself in the lyrics.”
The band can’t wait to play these songs live! When they do hit the road, returning to the Daisies amazing line-up is the monstrous, hard-hitting, powerhouse drummer, Tommy Clufetos (Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne).
So strap in, this is going to be one hell of a ride!
“HOLY GROUND makes me happy when listening to it now that it’s done and we’ve had time away. It’s heavy, groovy and is a fresh start for the band. It has the guitars that you expect, but a new direction lyrically from Glenn. His lyrics are deep and leave room for imagination.” – Doug Aldrich
With Holy Ground, The Dead Daisies have ensured that they will no longer follow anyone. They are leaders. And they stand, proudly, on HOLY GROUND.

Elephant Gun have returned with new album Now To Survive, we chat with Sean Dennis!
In the late 90’s and early 00’s the Aussie Alt Rock scene was at it’s peak dominating Triple J airwaves, filling festival lineups and Elephant Gun were right in the thick of things.
Signed to Roadrunner Records, touring with The Screaming Jets, Shihad, Grinspoon, Sunk Loto, Powderfinger, Magic Dirt and hitting the main stage of the 1998/99 Falls Festival and even the Big Day Out.
Fast forward now to 2020 and their new album Now To Survive is out via Dinner For Wolves. The first taste of that album has been the massive riffs and rock n roll energy of Kill Street Blues and I recently caught up with Sean Dennis, Elephant Gun bass player to chat about the origins of the new album, we dive into some of the bands history and look forward to what lies ahead on the horizon for Elephant Gun in 2021.

Sydney Singer / Songwriter Dean Ray recently released his stripped back ‘4 Trak Sessions Volume One’
Setting a challenge earlier this year, Dean set out to release 1 song per week….and this stiring album is the result.
I recently had the pleasure of chatting with Dean, a raw and candid chat about the impact that 2020 has had on him personally and also his plans musically this year.
Impacts in a way, which are captured musically in the first single from the album, Survive, which you’ll hear during this chat.
We discuss new music that is currently in the works that sees Dean plugging in the electric guitars and we also have a special guest drop in for a chat in the form of Dean’s dog Max.
With Dean having just played his first live gig in Sydney, we start off the chat chatting about the feeling of being back on stage.
